RCOM unveils Reliance 3G Tab

Reliance Communications, well known as RCOM announced the launch of operator branded Android powered slate Reliance 3G Tab. This tablet runs on latest version of mobile Android OS v2.3 Gingerbread. Interestingly and amazingly, the tablet is priced at a much affordable price Rs.12999

Announcing the device in Mumbai, Mr. Mahesh Prasad, President, RCom says, “We believe the unmet demand of a fully-loaded tablet at an aggressive price point will now fuel the aspirations of the evolved customers.”

Reliance 3G Tab designed with a 7-inch display screen with Capacitive touch inputs. The device appears to be like the classic version of Samsung Galaxy Tab. However, the stuff inside well differentiates the product. Reliance 3G Tab powered with 512 RAM and micro SD slot for an external storage with a threshold of 32 GB. This tablet weighs 389 grams and pretty lesser in mass when compared to the other tablets existing in the market. The tablet sports two cameras, one with a 2.0 megapixels appearing on the rear view and the other VGA camera in the front.

Reliance 3G Tab will be available in Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata at Reliance World and Reliance Mobile stores. Soon, the company is planning to launch in the 13 circles where Reliance operates the 3G services.

Reliance offers some free goodies with the purchase of the device. This includes a 4GB Micro SD card with the sales pack and exclusive bundled data service plans and discounts up to 50 percent.

Android is now officially the No.1 smartphone OS

androidGoogle’s Android OS has taken almost 50% of the global smartphone market share, research firm Canalys has said in its report.

Android is currently being used by almost all major cellphone manufacturers like – HTC, Motorola, Samsung and LG.

Apple’s iOS is second in the list with a considerable distance, reporting 19% market share in comparison to Android’s 50%. Although Apple has overtaken Nokia as the world’s largest individual smartphone vendor.

On the other hand Samsung, which sells Android smartphones as well as its own Bada branded devices, shipped some 17 million devices, a rise of 421 per cent versus a year ago.

Major update now Live for Android Market

Google has announced that Android devices running version 2.2 and higher will get this update. With this new update Android users would be able to purchase books and can rent movies as well.

The user interface also gets revamped to make searching easier for the users.

You don’t need to do anything – the update is automatic on supported phones. If you’re in the U.S., you’ll also be able to download the Videos app, rent movies, and buy books once you receive the new Android Market.
